Press Release – 22nd September 2002
The Jackson & Co Fabric Print Collection
Brent Jackson has fulfilled a long held ambition to launch his own range of fabrics drawn from a unique and historic archive that has been unused for over 70 years.
The designs have been re-coloured for today’s interior
while remaining faithful to the original design. The collection offers versatility,
with colourways which range from rich strong reds to more neutral colours.
The designs have been laid onto natural ground cloths which give an added
textural dimension. No compromise has been made with the quality and
weight of the ground cloths which are linen/cotton mixes with the emphasis
on the linen.
The collection includes both hand block and flatbed printed fabrics. As you would expect they are all made in England using the most traditional methods.
The individual designs are:
Towersey: a hand block print, “tree of life” in style , shown in all its true glory that only a hand block design can achieve
Olivier: named after Brent’s son, this design is from a familiar genre but in some innovative modern colours.
Eloise: Named after Brent’s daughter this large scale “country house look” fabric on a very unusual textured ground.
Big Boys Toys: Reflecting a passion for the golden age of motor sport ! A very unusual toile de Jouey.
In addition to these Jackson & Co will be introducing its range of weaves
designed by Mark Humphrey. For more information please see separate press
release.

Mark Humphrey designs a range of weaves for Jackson & Co
Mark Humphrey the interior and product designer has created a new range of luxurious weaves for Jackson & Co.
Using the latest technology and skills learnt from the Italian fashion industry, the cotton/linen weaves have been developed to reflect different materials used in interior architecture and design. Mark’s inspiration was drawn from natural finishes, raw materials and tonal colours. This can be seen in the individual weaves under the design names: Burr, Alloy, Stone and Magma.
Burr:
echoes the grains and deep hues of fine veneers.
Alloy: metallic colours provide a contemporary palette.
Stone: draws on the range of colours found in geology.
Magma: reflects the richness of colour and texture
of cooling volcanic rock.
These weaves will compliment modern, clean, and sleek design, whether it be contemporary furniture or interiors.

European launch of Elizabeth Benefield Fabric Collection
For the first time in Europe, California decorator, Laury Barnes of Elizabeth Benefield Inc., introduces her own original fabric line. The unique designs are exclusively available through Travers in New York and showrooms across America and now in Europe through Jackson and Co. Barnes’ unique designs originate from her love of beauty, and creative talent drawing on her 20 years of decorating across America and the Caribbean.
Elizabeth Benefield Fabric Collection has been designed in America and manufactured in England, thus insuring superb execution, a beautiful product, and uncompromised quality. The collection, currently consisting of 16 designs and a multitude of color ways, commands the attention of a room.
Laury describes some of her designs….
“Exhibition Rose”- I cherish old, beautiful, and interesting plates. I also love old fashioned roses, and thought they were a fun combination.
“Borghese”- In decorating, I love a little oriental in a room. The fabric is a pretty floral, with bamboo framed vignettes of oriental children playing.
“Magdalena”- The historical feel and aged look of this fabric, is a reflection of what inspires me in design and decorating. “Magdalena” is somewhat whimsical and fun. It has a very different feel, depending on the color ways.
“Isis”- This fabric has a very loose painterly feel to it. Flowing vines with animals and florals, it is very charming. It comes in cotton and a very chunky linen. The linen is great!
Jackson & Co are the exclusive European distributor for
Elizabeth Benefield fabrics, they have a showroom opening end of September
at 14 Holland Street in Kensington London.
